Thomas helped me purchase a beautiful cruiser bike and accessories to go with. Sheila serviced my bike and attached my accessories/helped me load up the bike into a small sedan. Both were very knowledgeable and friendly. I would definitely recommend fellow cyclists to this store. It's so nice to go in, and talk to people who actually know what you are talking about/looking for. They helped me weigh the pros and cons of different cruisers, and pointed out perfect rear rack, fenders, and helmet for me. I will certainly be back :)

The second aspect of their significance is that they themselves are active cyclists and know the sport. When I was looking at the trainers, I asked Sheila what model she used. She replied that she didn't need one because she used her bike with the big tires throughout the entire year.

Not a single positive experience, out of 5 times I went there. They are just unhelpful and snooty. The last time, my wife asked for an inexpensive water bottle and she got a top-down look and a "Miss, they start at nine dollars..." ("... how cheap are you?" was implied by the voice).

I was a regular customer. Spent plenty at this store. Guarantee they won't get another dime. Took two bikes in for service. Both jobs botched. I now have a tire that rubs and another bike with gear issues. Already booked appointment elsewhere. Buyer beware. When I explained what was going on the owner spent the whole time finding reasons why it's my fault. Don't care about fault, just want my bike running properly. Go ahead and be a right fighter...........bye

I'm sorry to speak ill of others, but if you go to J&J and are not flaunting 100$ bills, be prepared to be treated like a nuisance.

    2. I bought a wrench, I took it home and used it, and it bent immediately. When I took it back the next day to show them, I was not expecting my money back, because I know I applied to much force on it, I just wanted to show them and I would have appreciated say a discount on my next purchase. Instead I got just another mean look and rude reply.

I was in Kingston for a week during a family holiday and needed a road bike. I contacted Sheila at J & J cycles and had incredible service. Not only did she meet my need for a bike, but she made sure that the bike was precisely tuned to me: she replaced the stem with one that afforded a better fit. She checked & rechecked my form on the bike (set up on a trainer in the shop) before being satisfied that the fit was optimal. Her attention to detail and dedication to the needs of a cyclist underscore her expertise in servicing the Kingston cycling community. She & her shop are great assets to cyclists in & around Kingston (and to those of us who visit, as well). Go there!

    1. I asked them to remove a seized bottom bracket on my Norco, and they were not able to.

The significance of Sheila and John's store to Kingston cyclists is revealed in a couple of ways. First, they were able to move from their less visible and smaller Golden Mile store to a more accessible and larger store at the busy and important Bath Road / Days Road intersection. Not only are they following the important "Location, Location, Location" criterion at their new address but their larger store also provides customers with a much larger selection of bikes and cycling accessories. For example, I recently purchased a trainer from them and had a choice of at least a half dozen makes and models.
